gspot rocks. I d/l gspot and installed it. I then right-clicked on my .avi file and clicked open with->GSpot. When it opened it already figured out my missing codecs and installed them for me. I was then able to play my .avi files.

Thanks :-)

Ok, Xvid is usually whay u need to decode it. Its a small program, actually just a .exe- run it and the file and *p0oF!*

Another thing why it wont play on WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER... G’s i wonder why..Common use common sense its microsft for ya- they want total control on what u watch- dont us WMP- its a POS form head to toe..

use DivX or WinAmp or power dvd- or some others, sure they all need to be bought, so buy them...or not, -=)

I’m having similar problems. The other day I watched a full avi file movie all the way through, but today I tried playing it in windows media player and I just got a pop up window saying class not recognised. I can’t play it in anything other than an old divx player, but I keep getting some sort of green flash apearing every second, making it unwatchable. It’s espcially frustrating as I know I can play it, and I didn’t install anything else, so I just don’t see why. Oh, and I still use windows ME, so I can’t update my divx player. Basically, I’ve tried everthing on the previous pages and nothing’s worked. SO, any suggestions?

hi, i have a problem, i don’t know if someone else has already posted it, anyway, i’m trying to see the preview of some LOST episodes i’m downloading, i used to play them in AVIpreview but it doesn’t work anymore and each time i click “preview” on LimeWire it takes me to WMP but it appears an error message that says that the player doesn’t admit the codec with which it is compressed, so, does anybody knows how to make that the player admits that codec or has any solution? or can anybody tell me how can i fix my AVIpreview or if there is any software i can use to play avi files? (please don’t include irfan view or quicktime)
