I burned a movie on a CD some time ago. It worked just fine (LOTR, TT, disc1 and disc2). Today i wanted to watch it again, but it doesnt work!

Sound is fine, but screen is balck. Gspot says that this file works perfectly all needed codecs are in place. I press button “Codec IS installed, details..." and message says: Direct show apparently is able the file as well though it has selected different codec the XVid MPEG -4 Video decoder ---> AVI Decompressor ---> Color Space converter, -- no further information is available on discrepancy it is unlikely to be a problem though.

Is this dicrepancy my problem? What do i do? This is my favourite movie... And 1.5 gig is long time to wait...

BTW i have win 98 reply

Try playing the file using VideoLAN (, just to check that it’s not damaged in any way.

If it’s playable through VLAN, this’ll mean that there’s some sort of codec conflict happening (have you recently installed any codec packs installed?).

When you burnt it onto CD, did you check it straight after to see that the burn was successful? This might have been where the files could’ve been damaged in some way. reply
