To play avi files in your DVD player you need to convert them to mpeg for VCD or SVCD format.
You do not need to make bin/cue files.
Just use Nero Burning Rom. Choose VCD or SVCD and drop the mpg movie file into the burning window and burn. Easy... reply

i dont like to burn as avi or mpeg because nero encodes the video and it comes out looking shitty on tv, that is why i like to burn bin/cue files, but when i have a avi or mpeg and create bin/cue files their not playing on my dvd player reply

its not the bin/cue file that determines if it comes out shitty or not,its the source.if its in .avi file that means in all likely hood you got that file off of some punk ass p2p program----delete all .avi files go on irc and find the vcd or svcd version of the movie you have.
and before anyone replys yes iknow even irc has .avi files but those rooms are usually shitty anyway. reply

what if i have more than just 1 or 2 bin/cue packets.....what if I have about 40..

is it still possible to convert each of them to SVCD and then put them in 1-2 CDs? reply

What file extension do these files have?

(I’d guess that they are WinRAR archives, if there’s 40 of them. Those need to be unpacked first, then maybe unpacked again, until you’ve got the finished product. That’s what you can then try and burn.)

Are the files supposed to be some form of SVCD? reply

best way for burning bin/cue files is to mount it into daemon tools then do a cd copy with nero (daemon takes off the cd protection if there is one)

ps if you want the good files get off irc and use direct connect alot less crap files ;)

I don’t get it. I have this bin/cue file on my computer, isn’t there a way to just see it on your computer without burning it? (my burner doesn’t work) Isn’t there a program to make it work somehow? Sorry, I’m no expert on computer. Any help would be great. reply

As mentioned earlier in the thread, you can use Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5) to mount the .bin (which is a CD image).

Daemon Tools is basically a virtual CD/DVD-ROM, so it tricks your PC into believing that you’ve got playing from a burnt CD or DVD disk.

I prefer to open and play the .bin using VLC (www.videolan.org). reply

Download TMPGEnc it will convert your AVI to MPEG and if its already a MPEG it will convert it to MPEG but better. when you use nero it does mess it up, but when you turn your avi or mpeg to a better mpeg with TMPGEnc, it wont change the way it looks or sounds when you burn from Nero, believe me i know, ive been doing it for a while now. i know how neros converter works, it sucks, but TMPGEnc is much better reply

I use ISObuster to extract the movie from the .bin file and watch it on my PC.. No problems with it and also as FrightfoO said, use VLC media player if you don’t want to extract it. reply
