AVI File cannot be played correctly on media player

AVI File cannot be played correctly on media player, the video freezes but the audio still continues. Do i need to download new codec? please help. thanks.

when i install gspot codec there is still a problem. have you heard of the vlc media player? it can play the file but it should be in full screen in order to play see it correctly. thats my problem i cannot play it in windows media player.
