WTF can i do with a ".mkv"

i have a file i downloaded and it is a .mkv. i have tried to convert it to play on my ipod using Handbrak but in the enciding screen it just comes up with lots of text then disapears realy fast. what is happening and how can i stop it?

hi, in fact most video converters doesn’t support mkv format and can’t convert mkv files. I recommend you Nidesoft MKV Converter which is professional mkv converters. it can convert mkv videos into all other formats in high quality at fast speed, you may get it with the link on my signature.

Better yet, just extract the files from within the container and convert them.

MKVToolnix can do it, it you’d prefer a GUI instead of commanline for your interface a link is below...

MKVextract GUI

Now you can use a converting program like
super or MainConcept Reference to convert the files.
