i recently downloaded some videos that will not play. Windows media (updated to the fullest, most recent) tries to download codecs and then says it does not recognize the file type (class not registered). Same happened when i tried RAdlight and BSplayer. Nothing seems to work. DOes anyone know a codec that would alleviate this problem?
Surprisingly, it says the same for one mpg file, and those always work. I tried playing it on my friends pc, where it plays the sound, but does not show the video. What should i do? I do have divx codec 5.03 installed. Thnaks.
I too have this problem, but assocated with some avi files.
I’d appreciate the fix.
Tks, Bob
Download The Faimous One’s Codec Finder:

What does it say about the files?
Download Realplayer from:

bbits=true&&src=122604realhome_1_3_1_1_8_1,021204r1cp_home_dlrhap_bb
You can play mpe file.
i have the same prob.it is fucked
Just save the file to your desktop, and add a 'g' at the end of the extension to make it “mpeg'. My computer (Powerbook G4 - Apple) recognized it as an MPEG file right away and opened it with Quicktime. Easy.
I tried adding a “g” to the end of the file name and IT WORKED!!! (I also have an Apple)
