Will Windows Media Player play .sub?

I don’t know what I am doing wrong, I installed VSFilter, I put the .sub file in the same folder as the avi, and I made sure that their file names match but the subs will not appear. Any input would be appreciated, Thank you.

Eureka!!! I had to put the .idx file in the folder along with the .sub and the actual .avi. Thanks anyway.
