problem with .mtv files

I’m using the 3.01 version of the movie convert tool software, when I’m converting a movie file (in any format etc avi, wmv..) the sound is messed up and all i can hear is noise.
someone know what can cause this problem?

And anothe thing is that the video file speed is messed up, when I choose 1 frame p\sec the video is too slow, and when I choose 2,4,8,16 frame p\sec the movie is too fast
