Need help renaming a quicktime file w/o corrupting it

Hi,
I downloaded several quicktime video clips recently (.mov), and after renaming them the files are corrupted and unplayable. Does anyone know how I can go about renaming a quicktime .mov file without corrupting it? Your help is greatly appreciated.
