.mkv...got matroska...WHY DOES IT FREEZE?!!

ok...i recently finished downloading a .mkv video file from this site...i downloaded the Matroska MKV pack (with FFDshow) and the splitter along with “The Core Media Player” and all goes smoothly until i attempt to play my file...my computer FREEZES!!! It’s not one of those normal temporary freezes either, the light that shows whether your computer is doing work is off, and I can’t even move my mouse...the only thing i can do is press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice and restart my computer!! I am in serious need of guidance...if anyone has any tips im all ears.

BTW, i have Win98 so if anybody knows a way i can get this file to work on my comp, thanx

because u have win 98, comon man its tha 21st century and the newer prograns are not 100% compateble wit older ops. so get up 2 date!!!!!!!!!!!!!
