.mkv files

i got the core media player too now but f*ck it doesn’t work it says: certain streams in this film is not supported and so i only heard the sound of my movie any suggestions?

im trying to burn .mkv files to dvd in order to play then on my dvd player, but none of the software i have on my mac seems to be able to burn .mkv files to avi...anybody got any ideas?
