posted in File Types, viewed 1954 times

I bought a 1TB Iomega screen play director. I had transfered 15 movies (mkv format) from my PC and connected the Iomega player to my Home theater System (Denon AVR 2311) Via HDMI. A few movies dont play and says Bad Container and a few movies play but there is no audio at all. The movies are with DTS sound.

SHould I junk my Iomega Player. Any help here please to resolve this. reply

Hi Panch,

The problem is that it probably doesn’t support all the different video formats that you’ve thrown at it, and it doesn’t support DTS.

Check out this link: http://reviews.cnet.com/portable-video-players-pvps/iomega-screenplay-director-with/4507-6499_7-33961843.html

It appears to support (for audio):
WMA,
AAC,
AC-3,
MP3,
WAV,
Ogg Vorbis

And for video:
VOB,
XviD,
DivX,
MPEG-4,
ISO,
MPEG-2,
MOV,
FLV,
MPEG-1,
WMV,
H.264,
AVI

To get support for almost everything you almost certainly have to use VLC based device :-) (ie. a PC with VLC). Anyways one solution, time consuming, is to transcode your file sto formats that is supported. For instance you will need to transcode all that DTS to AC-3. reply
