I am trying to figure out how to view a file with an extension .im_ It was given to me by somebody on the other side of a legal matter in an attempt to comply with the requirement to hand over evidence while not making it easy for me to view the video evidence. I would really like to surprise him and tell him that I was able to view the video surveillance.

I would change the extensions to all the movie files such as .avi .mpeg .rm .mpg .wmv and etc. i looked that up in my books and thats not a extension that any movie player or even windows understands. So it sounds like someone made a bogus extension to make it hard to view. But give it a try.

The earlier reply is correct. This is a video file taped on a stndard Intellex DVR video system. You need to register for an account at the American Dynamics website, select the “Software Downloads” option under the Support tab. Now select Digital Video Recorders> Intellex Ultra, DVMS, RMS & LT
Now scroll down to the Tools and utilities and find the latest version of Intellex Player. (You can also use your browsers search function for heyword “player” from here.)
