Re: how to play .cda extension video file in pc
Having problem with mac ripped .cda audio cd files from friend, playing on windows 98 system and windows pocket pc 2003 cell phone.after getting the microsoft error 800...... error, I did what was mentioned about changing file extension, didn’t work for me, so tried the new windows media player 10 download- loaded cd into pc copied music to library, then copied to portable/my sx56 t-mobile pocket pc phone. the windows media player not only recognized my pocket pc when docked in cradle, but found the storage card/sd card and loaded the copied .cda files as .wma files. And oh yeah, the sound of music. No expense except a few minutes of download time off the net.

Re: how to play .cda extension video file in pc
Hi,
SOlution :
Download this
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/wiebo.westerhof/isobuster/isobuster_eng.zip
This software is used to recover data from lost or damaged image files. It recognises the tracks on the VCD although XP does not ( purposely as its copyrighted). Just right click on the track and select the extract option to convert into mpg and LO! it plays on Windows media player.
There would be some hiccups , resolution is not that great . Just skip a frame or two if the screen hangs.
Problem :
I fully understand ur problem. This problem occurs due to copyrighted VCD’s. You can make copies of this VCD but it will play on VCD players connected to TV only and not on a PC. I have done extensive search on the net. There’s no software that would crack that VCD or rip or play.
The idea is to create an image file and then extract the mpg from the image file. As suggested in this forum earlier , I tried to create an image file from NERO and use VCD Gear to extract mpg but it could not extract even though it recognised the nero image.
This image has to be created using some imaging standard. ISO is one such standard.
Re: how to play .cda extension video file in pc
I have been having the same problems and I am still looking for some answers, here is what I have so far. CDA files can not be played on a standard DVD/CD player without a DTS decoder.
The file extention CDA is a DTS digital extention, kind of a CUE sheet or handler file to tell the DTS decoder what to do with the audio files, that is why the CDA file is only 1kb, the real audio files are hidden.
The CDA is assocated with DTS and needs to be played through a DTS decoder such as a DVD/CD player conected to an A/V recever with a DTS decoder or a DTS software decoder for PC. If you are trying to play through your PC using DTS decoder software and your sound card and/or speakers can’t handle 5.1 surround, the audio output will default to 2 channel audio.
If you rip the CDA files to MP3 you will lose the DTS digital effect in which makes the quality of the sound reproduction. In this case I would just download or copy MP3,WAV or what ever if you want to play the audio CD on a standard CD player be it PC, Walkman or whatever.
Well back to my research
Re: how to play .cda extension video file in pc
I forgot to mention that CDA’s can’t be played from your hard drive they have to be burned to CD/DVD depending on the type of media it is Audio/Video(movie) or DTS Digital Audio. CDA’s are simular to ISO’s and should be burned disk at once, if burned track at once the spaces between tracks can cause unpleasant distortion.
Re: how to play .cda extension video file in pc
You might try to convert the file and save it to hard disk as an .MP3 or.wav using one of the MP3 rippers. This should work. Good Luck!

try to use CloneCD or BlindWrite. It will copy your cd easily even your cd is copyrighted.
Re: how to play .cda extension video file in pc
hey guys i had the same problem and i couldnt solve it using alcohol 120. I made an image of the cd in .bin and .cue format. Then using the media player classic that comes with the KLite Mega codec pac to play the .bin file. I worked with no probs.
Re: how to play .cda extension video file in pc
try to use audiograbber - freeware, that makes it possible to rip your cda-files to the harddrive without any reduction in quality.
Re: how to play .cda extension video file in pc
I also have the same problem. It seems to me that some people here are not understanding the problem. I’ve recorded a VHS of a family vacation trip and copied it to DVD on my video recorder. This DVD copy will only play on a video player and not on my computer DVD player. When using Microsoft Explorer to look into the computer DVD drive to see what is contained in the copy DVD, you see “Track01.cda” and nothing else. You’ll see the same file extension (******.cda) even when copying a television show to DVD or even a movie DVD to DVD backup copy.
I’m fully aware that the “.cda” extension is often associated with audio files but in this case, it’s a video. Wanting to extract a frame from the copy DVD to use as a DVD label is my goal. How can this video extension (“.cda”) be converted into a video file with an extension that would be readily viewable on computer DVD, video, media players?
Re: how to play .cda extension video file in pc
I’ve read the threads but found no answer on how to play .cda extension video file on a PC. Instead, the group is led into playing audio cda files in pc. Of course, that is not what we are after here. Any real angels to help solve the problem? Still unable to play the file here... Thanks a lot

You say you copied a VHS to a DVD using your video recorder. What kind of video recorder are you using? A home VHS/DVD combination video recorder? Or, A VHS player/recorder connected to your computer? What player application are you trying to use to view the DVD with?
The Track01.cda is a CD Audio track (filename extension). If you recorded sound from your VHS to DVD they would be in the cda tracks. Try converting the cda files to mp3 files and play the mp3 file to see what is there.
Re: how to play .cda extension video file in pc
The VHS was videoed using a Panasonic VHS Camcorder. That VHS tape was then brought into my home combo Broksonic DVD Recorder/VCR (DRVCR-900) to be converted to DVD via my television hookup. I used a DVD-R disc to record it on. After recording and finalizing the DVD, I then tried to play it back on my computer DVD player using Intervideo WinDVD player in an attempt to capture a frame as an image in order to use that image as part of the DVD label. WinDVD came back with an error and closed. I then used Microsoft Window Explorer to view the contents. The contents showed “Track 01.cda” at 1 KB. I went back to the Broksonic recorder and played back the copied DVD to make sure it indeed copied the VHS, it did. I tried to play it on Windows Media Player seeing that it was a “cda” extension file and it too failed to play it. I then brought that DVD copy to my sister-in-law’s house and played it on her DVD player with no problems.
I also copied a movie show to be viewed later at a convenient time on the same Broksonic recorder and again, the same file (Track 01.cda at 1 KB) and problem when brought into my computer DVD player and attempted to be viewed with WinDVD and Windows Media Player to no avail. After posting here I downloaded a trial version of IsoBuster Pro 1.8 a data recovery tool and scanned the DVD. This is the directory breakdown offered by that program:
IsoBuster-Pro 1.8
DVD-R
Session 1
Track 01
StorageLabs TinyUDFVolume
VIDEO_TS
VIDEO_TS.BUP 12.00KB
VIDEO_TS.IFO 12.00KB
VIDEO_TS.VOB 50.00KB
VTS_01_0.BUP 76.00KB
VTS_01_0.IFO 76.00KB
VTS_01_1.VOB 887.69MB
VTS_01_2.VOB 884.34MB
VTS_01_3.VOB 871.12MB
So certainly there is video there at the tune of 4.38GB.
IsoBuster Pro will extract the files but I would need to purchase and register the program.
IsoBuster can be gotten here:

Many thanks for taking an interest.
