HoaiNhan Guest | I have tried to convert rmvb into wmv so they can be played on Buffalo Wireless DVD player. Window Media Encoder works quite ok for me. I guess I just installed decoder codec from Real Media Player to enable WME to work.
To avoid sync problem.. make sure check frame rate on rmvb file then set the wmv output with the same frame rate.
I hope this will help someone outthere

Jake T Guest | The Answer to ALL of your questions:
I’m going to try and keep this as simple as possible. First off, how do you play .rm and .rmvb files? Well since these are RealMedia files, you should only use their RealPlayer. It is a free download and will play your rmvb and rm files fine.
How do you covert and/or burn to DVD? I suggest WinAVI. This will convert your .rmvb to either avi, mpeg, dvd, vcd, svcd for you with no problems. If you experience problems you are doing something wrong or your download is corrupt.
Another great program for burning avi, mpeg, vcd, svcd files to DVD and/or CD for playback is Nero 7 Ultra. This will take any of the above files (rmvb and rm excluded) and convert and burn it appropriatly to be read in most DVD players.

genjutsu Guest | The only problem with your answer is that you need to pay to get WinAVI however there is still the trial version but the problem i’m having is that when it’s converted into avi, mpeg or whatsoever format then when the file is played it has these words that’s displayed in the middle throughout the movie making it difficult to see. The words on it says: Please buy the real version for $29.99. Is there some kind of crack for the real version so i can burn without those words blocking the movie?

In the right hands RMVB encodes more than match xvid etc and at a minimal filesize, use winavi or DVDsanta to convert back to dvd.
This is a tried and trusted method that works for me, it’s a shame that RMVB is a much maligned format, this is mainly down to the shite that is real player.

ants Guest | ??? Nero vision plays rmvb, decodes and encodes , burns the .rmvb straight to dvd? whats the issue ..
Unless you havent got the latest plugins ..
Do a google search on “rmvb plugin for nero"

Snow Guest | It seems that the plug-in package only work with the latest version of Nero, Ultra 7

fandare Guest | so i have read many of your problems.
and all of you seem to be running around looking for the answer???????????????
let me start by saying i have been at this for some time now about 5 yrs so from experience let me tell you what you need to do.
1st you need to locate the software “Easyx video convetor” if you are good then you will find it.
“ Winavi” will convert your rmvb’s but it will look shabby and not worth your time to watch them,
once you have found “Easyx video convetor” and goodluck with that as it took me by accident to come across it. you will have everything you ever needed to convert anything to anything this is the holy grail. It will make 2 copys of your rmvb convertion 1 without sound 1 with sound so i bid you goodluck........
Now for those pepole who for some reason are having problems watching these rmvb’s on your computer i will tell you once download the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack v1.50 from http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/index3.cfm also while your there check the site out some good tools that you might like there well that is all i have to say so good bye for now a good luck

ghastrider Guest | i can play the rmvb video, its just that there is no sound... am i missing a certain codec or plugin?

adbroady Guest | Use Winavi to convert to DVD format..simple...then burn it using Nero.
Downloading the .rmvb will take half the time of an.avi or.divx and winavi converts it to DVD usually in less than an hour.
If anyone else is like me and prefers to watch their movies on a standalone DVD player ( I take my portable DVD to work) .rmvb is the easiest and quickest download and conversion.

mysterio Guest | Ok ... well I am a beginner from all this movie downloading stuff, and what I learnt today was that to open a RMVB file, I had to download real player, I download so many differnt media players and found real player to work. I also worked that when I was installing real player to install this to custom only, otherwise, real time would of taken over my computer. Once I could view my movie, I used DVD santa to convert it. After tearing out my hair and reading all these forums, this is what I did to open a RMVB file.
