I have sort of the opposite problem. I recorded a video with my digital camera (a Samsung Digimax A503) and then wanted to put it on my computer and watch it. I transferred it to my computer to watch it, and opened it with Windows Media Player 11. (I have Windows Vista.) It would play the video but said I needed a codec to access the audio. I thought maybe DivX would play it properly because everytime I had trouble with .avi before, I would use DivX and it would work fine. I’m able to play the video in the DivX player, and the audio will come in, but it’s all messed up, staticky, and my voice (or the music) is so slowed down that it sounds like Satan!

On my old computer, which had WMP 10 and Windows XP, a video that I recorded of my nephew played fine. Is the problem with my computer, and what can I do to fix it?

rob wrote: Hey folks,

I downloaded a movie that had .AVI as the extension. It plays audio but not video.

I checked the properties of the file and all I can see is that the type of file is listed as “Video Clip”

GSPOT does not recognize this as a valid AVI file.

Any help would be appreciated. This file is almost 700meg and I’m dying to see it!

I downloaded she’s the man, and it came in AVI format. I tried playing it on Windows Media Player, Reap Player, Power DVD, and none of them display any picture-only sound. Please help me!

If someone is having problems, download Combined Community Codec Package. it helped me with this problem, i had like 5 of my 7 videos screwed up in AVI format, and it fixed all 5 of them.
