I have a strange problem. Whenever I have a movie in avi format and convert it to dvd, I have one of two results:

*The movie plays fine on the tv as it should
*The movie plays widescreen but acts as if it doesnt know its an HDTV and I have the black boxes on either side of the video

Any suggestions? I’ve checked the aspect ratios/sizes and it seems irrelevant; in fact some of the ones that play small have better resolutions.

I’ve used Winavi to convert, sometimes some cutting with DVD Shrink and roxio to burn.

I think the most problem is you did not choose the ratio option. There are two stands for tv, that are 16:9 and 4:3, please choose the correct one.
