can any one help me I have a problem with the mkv file that i downloaded and hd H.264 have the greatest quality but no sound im going crazy please help me i’ll put some details of my mkv file its:

I tried VLC, the Matrosk pack, etc, but there all .exe files, and macs need .dmg files. Can anyone help me out an tell me where to go? I really need an mkv player or codec for my mac.

hey i tried a few different links in here and both are broken. the eplanet one just doesnt show up and when i went to http://matroska.org/ and download the exe just showed as a non existent page... how can i find this so i can watch the mkv movies ~

they would play almost all movie files

Does anyone know how I can get xvid.mkv files to work on OS X? I have tried every video player I could find (including VLC) but they all say the file is incompatible. I found some codecs online that were supposed to make Quicktime able to play this, but they didn’t work.
I just downloaded Lazy Man’s MKV, changed the extension to .avi and it played straight away, happy days

Dead Link, No Media Players at this time apparently support MKV Support that I have found out of 15 Media Players.
There is very easy way to play MKV, MPEG4, DVIX, XVID...
Forget about all the codec and consume about 200/300W of power with a computer. Use the TVIX it has all the codec built-in, it even plays M2TS (Bluray)

This download enabled me to play .mkv files on WMP10. However, memory and processor were not really up to the task, CPU was maxed out so the sound/video were a bit out of synch or paused sometimes:

Without this download the .mkv file wouldn’t play at all.
crystal player is and always has been my player! its super fast and uses the codecs needed! Also it can play crippled .avi (divx) files. VLC is also very good but lags a little bit more though it has more options.
im using cccp and it works great for all the mkv files ,but i got probleme to play hd video ,after reading all the stuff the probleme source is my pc its an amd athlon 2800+ 1.42ghz can anyone make a suggestion for my probleme ,a softwear or a converter that helps

Codec : (A_EAC3) : For this u need : Sonic cinemaster decoder Audio and Video 4.3.0
Disable Matroska in Mediaplayer Classic at internal filters.
add external filters : all 4 decoder files

Video
Muxing
Navigation
And voila de sounds is working!

i would really apreciate some help,i downloaded an mkv file that wont play on any of my players,it gets close on my vlc player but the video is all screwed up and skips,i have windows me and i realy cant download latest versions of vlc,i know its not the mkv file because i played it on my uncles computer just fine,pls help
Go to Settings->Preferences->select Advanced->untick Drop Late Frames (and maybe Skip Frames). That pretty much helps.
