any1 know a player/codec for .mkv files?!?

I downloaded a blue ray mkv file and i’ve downloaded all the players and codecs to watch it but when i play the movie on VLZ Media classic or Zoom the audio is not in sync how can i fix that?

oh yeah and this MKV is a High Definition Blue Ray HD-DVD rip with h.264 (AVC) compression, I do have at least an Athlon XP 3600 but audio is still about 5 - 10 seconds behind..

Does anyone know a working way to get .mkv files to work? I’ve tried downloading every single codec suggested, as well as every video player. Nothing has worked. Sometimes the player tells me the file format is unknown, damaged, or lost. Sometimes it tells me there is no video track. Sometimes a player gives audio and no visual. What gives?

I have a number of .mkv video files which used to work fine. I run them through Windows Media Player Classic, I then updated the Media Player to the recent verison but had to re-install the Matroska Pack and the K-lite Codec pack (both Full and Mega versions) and now some of the .mkv files have become corrupt can anyone gove me any advice on this?

Hi, I am trying to run a 1080p mkv file and it seems to be studdering more then it should. I am running a core 2 duo e6600 with 2gb ram and a geforce 8800 gts. I close all other programs and I have also tried playing it from each of my two hard drives. I am using VLC 8.6a Is the problem in my player or is it my computer?

i recently downloaded DIVX to play movies that i downloaded on torrents. however, when i try to open the movies files (using DIVX), i get an error message: this file does not contain a video track. does anyone know how to fix this problem? please advise.

The best is xp codec pack 1.3.3. if the .mkv has more than one language it allows you to choose the language you want.

quick fix for your hd mkv file playing slow

rename .mkv to .avi and i am using powerdvd7 to play them

Try if you can play the .mkv files using Media Player Classic.

Copy the executable over the one which came with K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (probably in C:\Program Files\K-Lite Codec Pack\Media Player Classic).

I got vlc, bsplayer and WMP, but none works well. WMP refused to play mkv. VLC plays it but sometimes when I scroll forward, like near end, it just closes the program suddenly. I made sure I had the completed video too. None would play my old avis saying contained no video track. They used to all work, now reinstalling window vista, this situation happened. Bsplayer would only play SOME avis. Is there a codec that can fix this? I used to have a massive codec pack. I now have ffdshow and directx9... HELP =(

I personally love VLC Player and it has always been my first choice for playing any media.

I recently bought an awesome iMac and downloaded the VLC Player for Mac OS X, and I had no issues what so ever to play .MKV files, but I got a Upgrade disc home with OS X Leopard, and after installing that my VLC Player has just stopped working. Any file is okey, except .MKV files! If I try to start a MKV file it doesn’t even show a black picture, it just gives me an error msg saying:

“mkv: No EBML header found”

and then I can only click okey.

Anyone having the same issues, or better yet; anyone had it and Solved it?
