What is the prog, how big is the file size of each file and where did you get it from?
If each file is fairly small in size, the only thing that comes to mind is you have not got the complete set of archived files 001 and 002 could be a set from 1 to 50 say. reply

You usually need to use WinRar to open such files. Assuming you have winRar installed, right click on the .001 file, open with, select WinRar from the list. Then extract as normal. reply

I have the same problem as well - i downloaded a game - it came in a 'bin' format - after i mounted it, i see a file called 'data.001' - do you know how i could open this?

the file is supposed to be the first disk to a game (mysterious journey) and the file is 600+ MB in size

thanks! ?:( reply

The .bin and .cue files are for Nero (or the like) to create a CD that you can install from. reply

Yeah, Steve is right. Try using WinRAR to extract (which will combine the files) first and if that fails, try using HJSplit to combine the files. You’ll have to guess the extension if you use HJSplit since it just concatenates the files together into a single file.

Oh yeah, if you get a bin and a cue file, this means you have a binary image of a CD, so just use Nero or Alcohol or one of the other ISO writing software to burn to a CD and voila, you should be good to go!

Have fun, eh?

The files come in parts because you compact more space by cutting it into smaller files. When WinRAR opens .001 it will automatically all other files with the same name and follow numbers are together. When you extract it will extract from each of them automatically. reply

after using winrar to extract the .001, .002, .003, ... files u have to either burn the cue and bin files onto a cd, or use a program called DAEMON Tools which acts as an optical drive for the files. reply

I had the same problem, its indisputable winrar is the ideal extraction. But when I tried mine it said me ..001 file was corrupted, then I tried the prog from this site and worked fine. www

P.S: This is swell www reply

WinRar works great...

1. Open the .001 file with WinRar and select Extract to:<anyfolder>
2. Once extracted, double click the .cue file (Must have image burning software i.e., Roxio, Nero, etc.) which opens Roxio, etc.
3. Burn to disk. reply

download hjsplit and join the files starting from .001 to either a .rar or .zip. Then extract using any unzip soft reply

I have the same problem but:

how do you unrar the files that are .001, .002, etc??? I thought they are supposed to be .r01, .r02....

I think you can use hjsplit but when I do I don’t get a file type. I believe it is rar because I can open and see the file inside, but when I try to extract, it looks for .r01 files... reply
