Removing Audio File from Imported Video

posted in Encoding, viewed 1781 times

Hi all,
I’m having a problem and hoping someone can point me in the right direction....
I have a Sony HDR-CX300 Handycam and use the PMB software that came with the camera when importing the videos. The camera does NOT have a 'mute mic' option as it’s predecessors did and the software does NOT have the option of removing the audio when importing - again, as I believe earlier versions did.
I can take the file into TMPGEnc and remove the audio - found out how to do that thanks to this site - but when I try and drag the new file back into PMB, it no longer recognizes the file when I try and create a DVD (even after I change the m2v extension back to mpg). I can only assume it has something to do with the existing modd or moff files that are created when I import the original from the camera.
I’m a total newbie when it comes to this stuff and am just wondering if there’s anything I can do that will allow me to use PMB to create the dvd after removing the audio. I like the way PMB allows me to create a dvd with the menu or visual chapter thing when I create a dvd with multiple video files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! reply

is your stuff in AVC (H.264) or MPEG-2? if the former, you probably shouldn’t be using TMPGEnc

I know this is late, but I just had another thought. When you demux, you may have elementary streams. You may need to create a transport stream (or at least program stream) for the program to read it. reply
