decensoring or reversing of pixilation of a mosaic censor is defintely possible to a certain degree. Security camera video often undergoes processing using “image enhancement” to sharpen images.
Image enhancement of video can (sort of) work because multiple images in a sequence are used to interpolate information and sharpen the image. Adding more knowledge of what the subject matter in the frame can help the process too. So sequences of the same motion repeated over and over *should* be a good candidate for image enhancement for the purpose of decensoring.
I’ve done some google searches but haven’t come up with anything available that is free yet. Most of the things I’ve come across is for security camera image enhancement. But I would think that software that was Japan AV porn censor aware could do a slightly better job since it could be programmed with the information the censor region (area for image enhancement was circular and was surrounding the crotch region) :)
If I was a better programmer and had more time on my hands I would like to write one, though I would have to think there are enough perverts out there with a technical background that someone would have already written one.

it must be possible to remove the mosaics because:
- there are pc-games called Bishoujo-games,and often they contain sexual interaction or something like that which gets censored with mosaics in japan. But some games got released in english without censorship. I don’t think that japanese companies are keeping the uncensored version for other countries, so the companies which have released them in english must have UN-censored them in some way.

well ... i guess there are many things which are censored in japan but getting released uncensored in other countries. it would be illegal for a company to keep the uncensored version, right? there has to be a trick or something ...

okay, i have the latest version of adobe: production studio suite, the $1500 one, anyone got a way to remove mosaics with this, i have to see hotaru akane.!!!!
what are the filters in virtual dub that will remove some of the mosaic?
