In the begining ( how do I get burnt DVDs to play on my DVD player)
I have just started downloading movies off the net, and through this forum have found out all about codecs, but i am having other troubles. most movies i download will not play on my DVD player I am getting the message unknown disc on it( the discs play on my computer). I was wondering whether it was due to regions. My DVD player plays region 2 or all regiion discs. Could it be the formats I am recording in. The one I just tried was AVI. Is there any way to find out if a downloaded movie will play prior to downloading it. Any help would be great . Some advice on literature about all this or a relavent web site would be helpful too.
If the avi plays fine on your PC you must convert it to the DVD (VOB)format in order to play it in your DVD Player.
There are quite a few peices of software that will do this for you:
WinAVI Video Convertor 6.2
Thanks this worked, will this work with all file types or will I need other software too.(I used Copy divxtodvd converter
i used the program you used but the problem im having s that when i used nero to burn them the speech is about 20 seconds out of sinc does anybody know any other free program i could use that doesnt do this ?
There could be two possible problems that I see with your DVD’s not playing on your player. I am not an expert by any means, but have been burning DVD’s for over two years and enjoying on my DVD player since.
The first problem could be that your DVD player doen’t support AVI files. If that’s the case, that is why your CPU will read the disc but your DVD player will. To fix this, try burning a DVD in MPEG format. If that doesn’t work, then you may need a new DVD player.
Was your DVD player purchased prior to 2001? What brand and how much was it? You should be able to find a very inexpensive DVD player that will play your discs and I can recommend a DVD/VCR combo from JVC that was about $100 over a year ago that I’ve seen as working perfectly with burned DVD’s.
Hi, i downloaded this movie & created an ISO image out of the Video_TS folder and I went to burn it using Nero 7 after using dvd shrink to create the image...my computer’s dvd player will play it(LG dvd player/burner), but my DAEWOO dvd player won’t play it and my slim ps2 says “TV System doesn’t match”...no other dvd players in my house can read this dvd, is there any way to fix this problem using dvd shrink or dvd decrypter? also if you have suggestions of any other programs(free) that may be able to fix this problem, that’d be great :v)
I read Nellyp63 and her problem is similar to mine, but i am downloading files from limewire and most files are bogus or they dont download/someone is not available/ etc. I dont know if the quality is good. I need to know where i can find software AVi and Vob to download to be sure my dvd’s will play on my dvd and what sites offer good dvds to download, not just a bunch of bogus files like Limewire.
made a back-up copy of Star Wars with 1 click dvd copy but it will not play ?
Hi, my name is rae, and i am having the same problem as those two above. i sucessfulluy burned a movie and it plays on my computer and other computers but won’t play in my DVD player. Don said about changing it to a MPEG format. how do i do this? also, if that doesn’t work, are there free programs that i can download to help me?
Does anyone here know about DVD Flick, is it a good program to use for converting and burning or no and, if not, do you have any suggestions
My problem is that my dvd writer (lg) on my computer is not playing the dvds I burned using it especially rewritable disk. Original dvds play but some of them do not. Whenever I try to play a rewritable dvd the dvd writer just blinks and stops and it does recognize it. Please help
DVD flick is OK but be prepared. the burning process takes well over an hr, sometimes 2. I’ve used it a lot and have not had much luck watching the movies after the time spent on my DVD player. However, if I give that same dvd to my father in law, it works on his player just fine.
Guys i have a better idea you guys can can go to the website www.h33t.com and download winavi for free so you wont have to pay and it is a torrent website mosy of you would have known that.
when i use image burn, after burnning i can,t get it to play on my dvd player in other room
I usually can play my DVD on DVD Player, I use Mac DVD Burner to burn my DVDs
Hi have the same problem using DVD flick, how can I use this to ensure I can play on a dvd player? I’m not sure what I am doing wrong and have read the guide to see if I am doing it properly and it seems I am. Others seem to work fine on my DVD player
YOUR SURPOSSED TO GET NERO.ROXIO.OR OTHER SOFTWARE LIKE THAT TO MAKE A DVD..SINCE WHEN U ADD UR FILE TO ROXIO IT ENCODES THE FILE INTO DVD FORMAT..NERO 10 WILL BE THE BEST CHOICE SINCE ROXIO BEEN GIVING ME PROMBLEMS
Which dvd player do you use? I burn dvd’s just fine and they will play in my computer dvd player and a dvd player mounted in my vehicle, but although I use the same type of disc only some play in my dvd player in my house.
I have now purchased 3 different dvd players and the same dvd’s play on each one. The ones that don’t play, will play on my friends dvd player which is about 4-5yrs old.
The dvd players I own now are 8+ years old and none of the burnt dvd’s will play on either one of them.
I am baffled over trying to figure this out. I make sure when I purchase a new dvd player, it plays all types of discs from dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd rw, etc.
If anyone can give me some advice on this, I would very much appreciate it.
Thank you in advance for your time
I bought this program WinX DVD Ripper Platinum, I have burned the same movie that works in all my dvd players 3 times in 3 different formats (mpeg4, MOV, and mpeg 2) none work in my dvd player... my options are AVI, WMV, FLV, MOV, MP4, Mpeg and each has some different settings for output image settings. Any advice on which way to go so I can view it on my dvd player (which is just a few years old, tried on 2 of them now).
DVD shrink works great with img burn, save iso and then burn the image with img burn.
