I need to burn an MKV with soft subs to dvd

i have an anime that i want to burn to disc but if i convert it i lose the subs(soft subbed) . Is there any way to burn the files and retain the subs or to extract the sub files before burning - i have a program with which i can embed them in the video making it hard subbed - are there any programs that allow me to do any of these things?

additional info
converter program: E.M Total video converter HD
default burning program: DVDMaker(Windows)
other possible useful programs: Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate - ImgBurn - Ulead DVD MovieFactory TOSHIBA - DVDFab 6 - TOSHIBA Disc Creator

these are the only programs i have that could be of use but i could use new ones if needed. reply

Try Divx Author, but after you create it you still have to convert it from divx format to dvd format reply
