i burnt .avi to dvd for 18 episodes of monster garage long ago w/nero.. and its beautiful..
now i have 22 episodes of something in avi format and ive used nero 6.6.x.x. and ive wasted 9 dvds and 12 hours...and no matter what i did, it says “No disc” in my dvd player.. i have no clue what i’m doing wrong..ive used cucisoft avi converter,a nd converted avi to mpeg and still doesnt work..does anyone have any idea what to do? i wanna get this 8 gigs of stuff off my computer for the space..
anyone have a nero how-to, or tutorial.. i swear i’m doing things as ive done before.. but it just not working, any help would be appreciated ..
u can’t make/burn dvd files with “Win DVD Creator”,it’s a software that’s transform avi/mpeg/mpg/... in a vob file, and u can add a menu to, simple butt efficient, the VCD/SVCD are less efficient because u lose the image quallity, and it’s more complex because the movie must be in a format like 480x480 or 576x352, formats that are standard’s 4 VCD/SVCD, u can use this software :TMPGEnc 2 make and burn VCD/SVCD movies.
And another things thats VERRY IMPORTANT:
Before u burn your compilation (DVD/VCD/SVCD)2 a disc (cd/dvd disc) try 2 burn it on a CD-RW/DVD-RW and test it on you Home DVD Player, if it’s working . . . , if not just erase the disc and try again another advice :)
and another thing 4 those that have Home DVD Players that read DivX/XviD/.... files : the movie name must be 12 characters long like ************.avi, and must not containd a RAW/junk (use GspoT 2 find out/ the computer if it has enough codecs it reads any kind of movie, unfinished . . .) and the subtitles must have the same name and 2 be in this format *.ssa/*.srt {* -it’s the movie name}(this are the most suported formats that work on any DVD Player)
Thank You 4 reading this and excuse my english please!!!

actually ,funny enough i found out by accident that newer dvd players are capable of playing an avi. file off of a regular cd-r. i found that my memorex brand dvd player and directed video dvd player in my truck will play avi. files and sometime mpeg files,if you can believe this!
2 fatfinger.. U can’t play avi files in dvd players unless they r equipped with divx or xvid.
So..fatfinger,pls don’t mislead some stupid fools thinking that their standalone dvd player could play avi files without the encoder.

I downloaded a .avi movie and tried to burn it with Nero and after encoded and the beginning of burning it said it failed and it kept a log of the error but I have no clue how to read that..anyway so I tried to convert it using Divx and it tells me that it can’t as the movie has an invalid audio stream. DId I just burn a bad file or is it something I am doing?
i used this - http://www.torialtown.co.uk/index.php?content=how-tos/how_to_make_a_vcd.html
but the only thing is you split the file onto 2 cd’s does anyone know how to fit it on one cd???
