So I’ve got an AVI file which consists of about four episodes of a series. For easier usage and the fact I may want to send friends specific episodes I need a way to edit the video.

I haven’t really got an experience with video editing but is there a tool which I can download which would enable me too seperate sections of the video? reply

If it’s a plain-vanilla AVI without too many fancy things, try NanDub.
The cut feature is very simple. Open your file. Click video, direct stream copy (otherwise it decompresses by default to uncompressed which is huge). Move the timer to your start point. Click edit, set selection start. Move it to the end. Click edit, set selection end. Then file, save as AVI.

One weakness of the program is the selection start cuts are done at keyframes (it rounds back). You can find keyframes by clicking the arrow with the keys on it below the time bar. reply
