I downloaded some movies, purely for personal use, and burned them to DVD. There were various file types, .mkv, .avi and even .mp4. I loaned them to a friend to watch and now her DVD player won’t read store bought DVD’s.
I watched some of the same discs on my Blu-Ray (including a PS3) players but they still function normally.
I know there are dangers and liabilities associated with watching files downloaded from bit torrent sites, but are there certain sources or file types to avoid, or is it just a crap shoot?
Also is there any way to recover any functionality to my friend’s DVD player?
