Best/cheapest Programs for burning DvD's

posted in DVD Burning, viewed 1646 times

Ok, I am sorry if some of these questions have been answered but this whole thing is extremly frustrating. I have a dvd burner but now I need all these other programs just to burn a stupid dvd? I would like to know if there are any programs I can use to burn dvds without having to buy them. I have downloaded smart ripper and it works great to rip the dvds to my hard drive but I am having a hell of a time finding a simple program to burn them to disk. The stupid Record Now crap doesn’t work with protected dvd’s (which makes a whole hell of a lot of sense) so I need to know which program I should use. If anyone can tell me where to find a free program to burn dvd’s that would be great if not which program should I buy. reply

Well, since it seems you like to do dvd copying the very first program i’d recommend is DVD Shrink. Use that to decrypt/rip/transcode your DVDs for backup purposes. Great thing about this is that its an F/OSS (Free/Open Source Software).

Along with DVD Shrink I highly recommend you get Nero. It works amazingly well with DVD shrink in that once a DVD has been backuped up to your hard drive, DVD Shrink will use the Nero Burning API to burn the DVD by itself. So Try to get a copy of Nero. And although this is a commercial application many DVD Burners come with this software. You could get the trial edition to test it with DVD Shrink. And if your burner did come with a copy of it and...you somehow lost your copy. I think it would be okay to get another copy without buying it ;)

If you really wanna stick to Open Source Software strictly I say try a program called BurnAtOnce. It’s a GUI for CDR DAO which is a Open Source Burning Library.

Here are the links to the programs:

2) Nero - http://www.nero.com/
3) BurnAtOnce - http://www.burnatonce.com/ reply
