I downloaded DVDShrink but what I want is to convert a mpeg file to a vob file so i can make a DVD with nero (nero only accepts a .vob file for this).

Does DVDShrink really convert mpeg files to vob? If it does, how does it make it?

Does anybody know about another software for this?

Thank you.

WinAVI is supposed to do that. I have been able to convert a small .mpg file to vob, but if I have a file of a fairly large size, it gives me an error message (see my post on the main encryption/conversion board).

the easiest program i find using is cucusoft avi to dvd converter (for avi files to mpeg) then i use cucusoft mpeg to dvd author which creates the vob files from the mpeg.

hope this helps

To convert just about any media file to DVD, I use VSO DivxToDVD. You can download a trial version @:
http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm

try dvd builder. it is freeware. also, if you want other freeware choices, go to cnet.com and look in the downloads.

there ae many programs to convert avi to voband i have tested a few with the same film and put it onto dvd.Neros is good but it takes to long and cucusoft is the same it takes to long .VSO i was alot faster but im not impressed cuz there was alot of glitches on the film.DVD SANTA was very good but it took 4 hrs to do a 2 hr film so i tried win avi now this only took 1hrs and 20 mins to convert the film first impressions were good until the last 20 min of the film which was unplayable so i tried it a gain with it and the results were good. For future films im gonna continue with winavi to see how i go

The original question was how to convert MPEG to VOB then folks started discussing AVI (inferior quality).

What ever you use DO NOT use 'DVD Creator''FREE DVD CREATOR'
It not only frooze my computer it stopped me seeing 2 of the 3 hard drives I have on my computer.
So I had to format the C DRive and install all my other programs again.

If you just want to record a DVD and watch it on your computer or feed the output to a TV. Just use a record using a 'DATA VIDEO' program. This will not play on a commercial DVD but ok for a computer. MPG can be burned direct to the DVD no need for VOB file
