I have a Chinese Esys PMP-E11 media player/digital camera combo (very similar to the one on the Chizon page). I am very happy with the player itself. The quality is great, and for under $100 it’s a great little toy.

My problem isn’t with the player, but the software. I have a ton of photos I want to put on it, but the Sunplus PMP transcoding tool will only convert one image at a time, and the program crashes about half the time when trying to convert files. Has anyone found a batch conversion tool that will work, or a newer version of the transcoding tool?

well, i tried it on the tv and it was also distorted. i am not sure what the problem is because i did what the instructions said on the little disc that came with the pmp.

I have the Sunplus converter, and the audio sounds ok, but the video comes out terrible, like watching a cable channel that only comes in a little bit. The video is fine before transcoding though, but comes out scrammbled. Does anyone have any ideas?

video distortion can be caused by converting from WMV (windows media video) files (terrible video codecs), or encoding from a resolution other than 320x240

my solution is encode a video in 320x240 with divx at 512kbps, mp3 audio at 96kbps. this works best on my player,

btw, are the menus distorted or just the video when you play it ?

also firmware is very specific, upgrading is no use unless your player is faulty because there is no improvment in video quality or audio quality in newer firmware

also daniel there is a problem using other ASF encoders, unfortunatley you must use the PMP tool because in regular asf the audio stream is #0.0 and the video is on #0.1 but on the mp4 player its the other way round, the pmp tool fixes this

unfortunatly no, if anyone can reverse engineer the PMP tool they could make a command line version, also we need a mac version !!

you could theoretically make a batch program using visual basic that sends tab key commands to change from box to box and enter data, but that would be pointless

Actually I found a great batch conversion tool that works for images/movies/music and works better than the SunPlus transcoding tool, I found it by translating the website of the manufacturer of my chinese MP4 player.

http://www.esys.com.cn/down/PMP0428.rar

This is for windows.
Enjoy!

I figured out why no one can get the little mini cd working that came with all the chinese made MP4 players!

See the way all of the letters are like squares and stuff? Well im pretty sure thats why it doesn’t recognise the folder that its in. So if you drag the setup file out of the CD and into your 'My documents' and run it- i bet it would work!

And also does anyone know how to make the asf-mpeg4 file smaller? Its so big!!!

Hope that helped- and if you need the Sunplus Transcoder Tool I can email it to you

Me: shamrock593@yahoo.com.au

Good Luck- for figuring out all the little tricks and problems with these Mp4 players!!

first of all thats not a corrupt folder, its chinese characters, install a chinese language pack and it makes sense, second of all these asf files can only be made smaller with lower quality, unfortunatley the mp4 player only understands one colour set, one audio codec and one video codec

Yeh, still thats why the setup utility doesnt work. Just put the contents of the CD somewhere else and you should be right!!

If anyone found any other converters that work, please post a message!

FIY: Blaze video magic works on the Mp4 players! It produces a really big file even on its lowest quality setting, sad.

By all!
