Still working on useing both FFMpeg, and Vidtoasf to create asf files for these things.
Here is the batch file I’m useing to create them in one click in a directory with both FFmpeg.exe and Vidtoasf.exe in it. Bitrate of 900 seems a bit much for the player, but the file does work.
call “C:\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe” -i “C:\ffmpeg\whbf.mpg” -croptop 12 -cropbottom 4 -cropleft 4 -cropright 4 -vcodec mpeg4 -s 320x240 -ar 16000 -ab 8 -ac 1 -acodec -pcm_ima_wav -aspect 4:3 -b 900000 -mbd 0 -r 23.98 -threads 1 -me_range 1023 -i_qoffset 20 -g 300 -vtag DIVX -me zero -async -y “C:\ffmpeg\vid.avi”
call “C:\ffmpeg\vidtoasf.exe” -in vid.avi -out output.asf -seekable on
pause
You can replace the -i “C:\ffmpeg\whbf.mpg” with whatever filename you wish since FFMpeg can import almost anything, and the output file from this batchfile is output.asf. To change the bitrate, change the -b 900000 (900 in normal terms) to whatever you want, but my player can’t seem to handle much more than 900.
If you try this, let me know how it works for you.
hi Rebel wolf
a couple of things really, ive been trying to get ffmpeg to work but i cant for some reason, it complains about pthreadGC2.dll? how are you using ffmpeg?
also ive had some success in playing files which ive converted to mpeg 4 using the “super” convertor, however when i convert to asf it framerate drops, i dont know how to keep it high.
also ive analysed the file that comes from the sunplus tool, and i think youve got it backwards, try uping the bitrate to this number 4294059 sounds crazy i know, but thats what the file sunplus uses if your interested how i know, download AVIcodec, very good at looking at files etc.
so far this is the best file ive got working on there
Video : 1.13 MB, 351 Kbps, 10.370 fps, 352*240 (4:3), DIVX = DivX Codec 4.12, Supported
Audio : 4.94 MB, 1536 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x1 = PCM, Supported
and what it needs (ie the sunplus version) is
Video : 3.99 GB, 4294059 Kbps, 16.130 fps, 352*240 (4:3), DIVX = DIVX4, Supported
Audio : 4.21 MB, 1536 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x1 = PCMS16LE, Supported
god i wish i knew how they encoded there files. i think im gonna try and reverse engineer the code, it must be written in C or something.
cheers
good luck | |

even the latest version being posted earlier in this thread doesnt work.
my vcd is converted to .ASF successfully, but when loaded on the PMP, it only shows colored boxes flashing. however, audio works fine.
anyone whp share such a problem? or any idea?
btw, here is a picture of my PMP(AF-736):

Converting movies to ASF on Linux, Mac or another non-Windows platform is another matter. --- Get in touch with your inner tadpole

we need another converter because PMP transcoding, is to much easy.
bitrate 100( very bad!) 500 (to much for play on pmp player) 1000kbit rate (to much much much)
we can use sd card only, so a good compression like 300kbit rate we can save more space on memory card.
audio: 8k, 16k and 48k.
no different resolution!!!
no multi-batch!
no (intelligent) different bit rate!!!!
there are 2 programs more good for sunplus:
1) Blaze video magic 2
2) Video X Converter 1 (i think it is aa copy of Blaze video...)
i’ve read that this chip (sunplus) play divx4.12 avi incapsulated, bat i can’t find 4.12 codec.

I’ve contacted a few PMP manufacturers and Sunplus themselves to find out what the latest version of the transcoding tool is, and have been ignored by all of them. All they’re interested in is selling the players by the thousand. Once they’ve got your money they cut and run. --- Get in touch with your inner tadpole
