Putting Multiple Movies on a DVD

Ok, what I’m trying to due is burn multiple movies onto a single DVDR so that I can watch them on my DVD player. The movies files are all .avi or .mpg. I want to control the movie selection through a menu. What do I need to do to convert these files into playable movies?

Or possibly, can you create and place SVCD files onto a DVD so that I can have 2 movies on 1 Disc?
