Hi everyone I am having toubles with my i-joy recognizing my 256mb and my 1 gig memory cards. Does it only accept certain brands? It looks like maybe the metal tabs aren’t contacting because the plastic between them is thicker on my other cards. THANKS

Jayson, when you say your i-Joy isn’t "recognizing" your 256 MB and 1 GB SD cards, what do you mean? What does the unit do when you put one in and turn it on? Besides the 128 MB Kingmax SD card that came with it, I have been using two different 512 MB SanDisk cards and a 1 GB PNY card on mine. They all work fine, but it seems that for some reason whenever I take out the card I had in there and put in a different size card and turn the camera on, it freezes in the DV mode and then I’m forced to take the battery out of the camera in order to get it to shut off. I’ve figured out a way to fix this, but I just want to hear what happens to yours first. Oh, and I promise you that your cards are making the connection — it just so happens that the 128 MB cards that i-Joy (technically a company called Cellstar, but whatever) is including with the cameras are the cheaper kind. Have you taken notice to the fact that there is no lock slider button on the SD card that came with your camera (besides the fact that they are much thinner than your other cards; no ridges around the pins)? Anyway, if you could, please post in detail about what happens when you power on your camera with a different card; I’ll try to help you.

when i put a card in besides the 128 kingman, it just does nothing, it still says "NO MEMORY CARD!" I was just now playing with it and tried turning it off and on with the other cards and i did get the sandisk 256 to accept ONCE, i took it out, tried another and nothing, then tried it again and nothing! I’ve been trying everything, is there something i’m missing (does it have to be in a certain mode? i don’t see why because the 128 seems to work anytime) ok, wait, now the 256 is working almost everytime...but the 1 gig lexar isn’t working at all, it won’t even recognize that it’s there so i can even format it. I don’t have a clue why the 256 is now working but it is, so any pointers to get the lexar to come up? I’ve tried everything...i think

As odd as this might sound, try continually pushing the right arrow button as the camera turns on, starting from the time you see the i-Joy start-up screen, and just KEEP PUSHING IT. Don’t hold it down, but actually hit it a bunch of times in a row. Maybe this will work for you, I don’t know...this is what I do every time I insert a different size card on my camera, and it always works. Although your camera is giving you the "NO MEMORY CARD" message, it’s more than likely the same general problem.

hey have any of you ever seen an epod and maybe know how to get videos to play on it? it’s kind of a 7 in 1 thing too. you think the one for the i-joy would work.

If it’s like most all-in-one digital cameras (including the i-Joy), then it more than likely uses the M4S2 codec to produce/play video. My guess is that the method I posted on the previous page would work on the epod as well. I have never heard of it by the way...could you give me a little more info on it? I just tried a Google search, but nothing came up.

OMG this is getting more and more strange every minute! That did help a little bit!ok so now it always says no memory card unless i’m in DV mode AND restart it hitting the right arrow. So now that i do that, i hit the record button and it says "NO MEMORY SPACE!" and i know i have at least 500 mb on my 1 gig card. this gets me to my next point/problem, when i push the center button to view other files (while still in dv mode)it says "No SD Card"(in white print) this is different then the other one that is in red.Ok so now i hit menu and go to settings or anything else, and it says "NO MEMORY CARD!" again, it won’t even let me format the card or anything. Any more pointers?

Okay, well try formatting it in your reader as FAT 16. Then put it back in your camera, see if that does anything. Are you sure your card isn’t corrupt or something? I’m beginning to wonder. How old is it?

Kar, according to that page, the epod uses the MP4 file format. It doesn’t say anything about using an ASF container (like the i-Joy does), but that doesn’t mean for sure that it doesn’t. Do you have an epod? If so, record like a 2 second video and find out what the file extension is. That would help me figure out what format you’re working with.

Hi, I am a Mom trying to help my son with the I-Joy H12 I got him for Christmas. I purchased a 1 gig PNY SD card and after reading here am wondering if it will need to be formatted before using in his I-Joy. If so, how do I format an SD card?

Sunnyside2day: always, always, ALWAYS format an SD card BEFORE using it for the FIRST time on any device. I cannot stress the importance of this enough. It’s the best way to prevent errors from occurring on the card later. Here’s how to format an SD card in the i-Joy: After turning it on, push the menu button on the side of the camera (under the power button) and choose "SETTINGS." Scroll down to page 2 and select 'Format.' You will then receive a message asking whether or not you want to format the SD card. Select 'Yes.' When it has completed formatting (takes about 1 or 2 seconds), you will be brought back to the settings window.
If you have any problems/questions at all with the i-Joy in the future, please don’t hesitate to come back and post a reply. I’ll try to help as best I can.

Thanks for your reply. I don’t have my epod with me right now, but as soon as I get it back I’ll try recording a short video and see what kind of extension it has.
