Hi, I’ve been trying to convert some mpg (mpeg-1) files to ipod compatible videos using Quicktime Pro 6.5.1. The problem is Quicktime is incapable of demuxing mpeg-1 streams so can’t get any audio in the output.
It is possible to do this however by first converting the file to an uncompressed avi file and then encoding it but there’s the drawback of having to create large temporary avi files (around 2-3 GB for a music video). There’s a large no. of music videos I want to convert...so it’s not an efficient method. I also tried framserving via VirtualDubMod but stupid Quicktime won’t accept that either.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to frameserv to Quicktime using VirtualDubMod? If so what are the steps to achieve it? Would the aviproxy feature work with Quicktime into tricking it to believe it’s a genuine avi file? I’m afraid to edit the registry without knowing it will actually work. Thanks for any help.
