it wont work for me unless i buy this $20 add-on. are there any other solutions?
it doesn’t work for me unless i buy this 20 dollar add-on for viewing/converting MPEG-2 files.
Thank you soldieraman. None of the other ways were working for me, but that website you mentioned was very easy to use and solved my problem. (And no downloads were necessary, which was nice too.)
Than You Nikki for postin this question!!
Apple are so stupid that they suck..
And thank you anonymous
Felix_the_Mac, thanks for DiVA...
This application sure works...
Ern wrote: yeah i’m probably gonna feel dumb after someone answers this, but i downloaded that converter anonymous was talking about and converted the mpeg to a mov but now i can’t get iMovie to take the mov... what do i do?
You have to save the file as a DV stream file. that is the native format for iMovie.
Jerry
OMFG THANK YOU SO UCH ANOYMOUS!!!!!!!!!
Thanks y’all
Found Felix’s idea of using http://diva.3ivx.com/
worked like a dream
I’m in editing heaven now! x
My God, I have had a nightmare trying to convert mpeg to any other format on my Mac. I have one of the new big screen iMacs that use the Intel platform. I tried the “imToo” converter - crashed my system everytime, tried the “Aimersoft”, converts with odd color overlays, like it doesn’t understand the color part of the file, and now... The Mpeg Stream Clip from Squared 5. Guess what? It needs the mpeg playback component installed from the apple store before it will work. No problem, it’s only $20 to get that component from apple.com and they are very happy to do the transaction for you, but... No FILE! Are you kidding me? I paid for it twice in the last 4 days, clicking the download link after payment brings you to a page that says, “MobileMe web applications not yet available.
The MobileMe transition is underway but is taking longer than expected. While core services such as desktop mail, iDisk and sync are available, the new MobileMe web applications... BLA BLA BLA...." I feel like Michael Douglas in that movie, “Falling Down” when he gets so much bad customer service in this country that he can’t take it anymore, ha, ha. Anybody have a suitable alternative that will encode the video with (of course) the audio along with it. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
i have the same problem as ern.
Thanks So Much!!! The best converter ever!!!
Almost 4 years later and Anonymous' advice is still making people dance with joy and gratitude! :-)
Any reason why the media convert site won’t let me convert a mgeg to quicktime or anything. It keeps saying that there is more than one file extension or someting?
Thank you so much for posting that link to that file. Conversion has made it so much easier!
Thank YOU!
Anonymous. . . you da' bomb. (And by the way, this whole thread is HILARIOUS! We are all thanking some anon. person for giving a link! :-D Only on the internet.)
Dang... I have to agree.. Anonymous saved my day. This is the best application to use to convert MPG to MOV. I needed this for my Final Cut Pro 6.
