Greetings folks!
I just called Apple’s local store and was re-directed to Customer Care and had a great conversation (if I may say so) with one of Apple’s representatives. He mentioned that there are no known issues with QT itself, but IS aware (has heard) of anomalies with IE8 in concert with QT. Indicating that I’ve got it working with Firefox, he wasn’t surprised and said, quite honestly - stick with Firefox. He said, honestly we really don’t support the Windows side of the reader but admitted that he was aware of issues with IE8 in concert with the latest QT. He did recommend to keep DirectX drivers up to the latest version if at all possible.
Incidentally, I got the reader working in Firefox by going to the Edit | Preferences | QuickTime Preferences - Advanced tab in QT and switching to Safe Mode (GDI only). Save it and exit, then restart the whole computer, let it come back up and then re-try it again with QT. I tested it using Firefox at the Apple Store (store.apple.com) and clicked on iMac, then scrolled down to the bottom of the page and played one of the two videos.
Just a suggestion only because final cut is expensive. Download VLC Media player from download.com select the one with the most downloads. It worked for me... now I can view the .mov files and hear the sound.
my adobe premiere CS4 cannot view mov file. the mov file exported using final cut pro and i want to use premiere to edit but only have audio and the visual is green visual. but the mov file exported from normal PC do not have any problems. any solution?
same here....mov files no pic just sound
Im having a similar problem. i recently downloaded a video in the format of .mov.When i tried to play the vid quick time opened up and the sound began to play but as for the picture it was all messed up. It was like colored bars moving up and down the quicktime box. I right away assumed it was my version of quicktime so i upgraded to the newest version and still same problem. I figure its a codec and ive tried using gspot on the file and it says codec avc1 name H.264 but i have had little success.. hope someone can help.
Thanks
Jesse
