The quick way is to rename the file extention from .mod to .mpg - which for some reason seems to work. Only do this after moving it to your PC.
I am still trying to resolve the MOD widescreen format though - which seems to record in normal format and then stetch it out on playback. It looks ok on the camera or the bundled software, but views as distorted normal format when viewing in my Ulead video editing software.

The jvc camera has got two option one for 16:9 and 4:3 chek well with your camcorder you will find it but mainly do it prior to recording, Im having a problem with this jvc camera i renamed the file from .mod to mpeg and it plays well in media player and windvd but if i put it in the adobe premiere timeline and export it there is no sound but if you play it by preview sound will come out

You need the Xvid codec to play mod files. Thats all I do, then use Winavi to merge all the files into a dvd structure. You can change the extension to MPG for Winavi to reconise the file or you can just click on show all files. Works just the same. Hope this helps.

Downloaded AVS Video Converter, it helped me to hear my videos from my JVC camera by converting to .wmv files (just changing file extensions did not work), but its a trial version and obviously posts an ad in the middle of my video. I really don’t want to buy this, is there another way to do this for free?
