how do I clean up winavi converted files to burn to dvd?

I have converted avi files to dvd using winavi, but when I burn them to dvd the audio video quality is terrible. Any free programs avaliable to do this? Thanks in advance.

before you get any other programe download vlc player and play your avi file in it to make sure it is good condition if so then you could try useing dvd santa or Apollo DivX to DVD Creator
