I need help converting a webex recording to any other video type. I cannot find a converter that will even recognize the .wrf extension. If anybody knows where I can find a converter I would be greatful.

Thanks,
J

Me too! I am struggling with the same problem. Did you find anything that works? I was thinking maybe Binker/Smacker, but I haven’t tried yet.

Please let me know if you find something.

I’m also looking for this. I found a website (E-Tech) that will do this for a fee. I did not check their pricing.

Thanks for the above post. We contacted E-Tech and got our file converted to AVI. I appreciate the tip.

Can you please give the full link to the site which is able to convert webex wrf files.
I checked www.E-Tech.com but I don’t think this is the site you meant.
Is the conversion is a service or a software?

Hi - E-Tech is a Canadian firm, and they offer a service to convert these files, not software (I wish!). Here’s the web address:

Dan

Can some of you who have gotten a convertion done, supply with me with some sample .wrf files? I would like to give this conversion a shot. If successfull, I’ll send the files back to you for comparison with those converted by E-tech.

Contact me at aim handle at pepsipayme or reply back in this thread with a link to a sample .wrf file.

Perhaps e-tech provides a service and not software because there is no real converter between the proprietary .wrf format and anything else. At least, I have never been able to find one; neither have I been able to find a definition of the file format, so as to write my own converter. Maybe e-tech does what I do, when I wish to convert: play back a .wrf file with the webex player in real-time, while running the recorder for different format (e.g., Camtasia for .avi). It is a brute-force solution, but as long as the machine is fast, the screen resolution is reasonable, and the recording frame-rate sufficiently low, you get excellent results.

I dealt with E-tech a while ago and they had decent support so maybe you should send them a mail

Hi Anthony,

I did contact E-Tech and they have excellent support and did a very professional job. I would definitely recommend going to them.

You could always use Camtasia Studio to record the screen and your system sound while playing back the WRF file. Then produce the recorded content as AVI, SWF, FLV, Quicktime and a number of other formats.

My consultancy specializes in Camtasia Studio and could convert anyone’s WRF file into any number of formats, complete with table of contents, if desired.

I tried playing back the .wrf file with the webex player whilst recording with Camtasia but it doesn’t pick up the sound. Any suggestions?

Make sure that the record audio button is enabled, and that you have system sound selected as your recording source.
