How do you get .mod files into Windows Movie Maker?

Renaming the file type doesn’t work.

Isn’t it about time either the camcorder maufacturers or Microsoft sorted this pain in the arse extension out.

Keep having to recode ruins the origanal quality anyway.

Hi all, .Mod and .Tod videos are mainly produced by digital harddisk camcorder such as JVC camcorder and so on. It is not common video formats and can only be played on some special players, if you want to watch these video on your iPod, iPhone, PSP, Archos and other portable devices you need a MOD Converter, i use Aiseesoft Mod Video Converter which works well for me, download here:http://www.aidownloading.com/mod-converter.html

Geezez you people are morons. You all run around with all the latest gadgets stuck in every orifice and you have’nt got a phucking clue what you doing. Holy crap. You turkeys don’t no how to rename a file!!! Ummm the computer is looking for the info after the phucking fullstop so if it’s
xxxxx.mod you must delete the mod and type mpg so the file looks like this xxxxx.mpg NOT xxxxx.mod.mpg Thats still a mod file.
PLEASE don’t ask what xxxxx is you phucking idiots. The education system really has gone down the gurgler.

i have tried the changing of the file extension to mpg and it works but i find it very time consuming to have to change the file type name individually. is there a quicker way of changing all files in a folder to the file type that i want to change them to?
anyone?

I, too, am glad that this thread exists. We’ve determined that using sdcopy, which I had found before this thread, says it converts the .MOD files to .MPG, but it really doesn’t at all. I am really just trying to create REAL .MPEG video files from my .MOD files.

I own both Ulead VideoStudio and Adobe Premiere Elements, and after running the .MOD files through sdcopy, these editing programs read and can burn these files with no problems.

I’m still, however, looking for THE solution. I’d like to be able to just play these files in WMP and QuickTime. (and run them on my Mac...) Right now Quicktime just says it doesn’t recognize the format and WMP shows the first frame for the length of the video, with no sound. This is for both the .MOD files and the converted .MPG files.

Soooo has anyone else found anything better?????

I changed file name to .mpg and now I get this error message from WMM:
H:\ Videos\HDDCAM\20090709\test\subject1.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from

Huh???

ok...this might be weird but how do we get to the extension?

you guys are awesome! my stupid jvc camcorder records in some cryptic mod file and thy cyperlink software that came with it doesn’t work on my pc. talked to jvc and cyberlink for over a year now and they both blame each other and won’t give me a key so i can see my videos and shorten/edit them. changed the file name to mpg... worked great! THANK YOU!!!

Ok, here’s the deal. I downloaded some torrents that are in .MPG format and for some reason I couldn’t get them to play from my external to my XBOX. Only .AVI files will play from the external to the XBOX. So, I got this converter and changed the file to .AVI but I can’t get them to play in WMP or on the XBOX. I have all the codecs to be able to play but it still won’t work. What should I do?

This program will get it done. Tried it myself.

(I know I’m about 2 years too late, but still...)

Saunnie. I love you for that. It’s taken me DAYS to figure out anything. AND YOU TELL ME IT IN SECONDS. Even the customer service was telling me to buy a 30 dollar program to fix this.

Thank god for the internet.
