converting . dem files to . avi

I’m gonna break this shit down real simple.....Rewatching and recording with a different program IS NOT converting. If you can’t answer the fucking question don’t open your damn mouths plain and simple not one of you has answered the damn question and then bitch when he keeps asking...FYI Fraps is a recording program NOT a converter program. This mickey mouse redneck shit will take forever compared to converting.

Unlike these morons I will tell you what you are asking about...You want to get a program called Vegas Video by Sony to convert your *.dem files into *.avi files. Enjoy

(And yes I can clearly see this thread is old but it is still the number one link when google searched how to convert dem to avi mpeg)

omg duded, listen: Download VirtualDub, Then DivX trial. THen do this in console: Record “movie name here” 100

Then after u’ve vidded a while or so much u want to do this “Stop” Then do this: startmovie “your movie name you choosed” then “playdemo “your moviename” "

After that you write: Endmovie, and quit cs/css/cz/1.5.

Then go to virtualDub and click Upload or open or something: Then go to C:/programfiles/valve/steam/steamApps/youruser/CS,cz or css/ cstrike or czero / then you will find all your pictures/movie pictures there. Then click on the first one. and virtual dub will paste it together. after that you have to compression. click compression > divX concer or something cant remember name > and configure. And put the grade thing on 1. Finished? now click ok > ok. then go to file > save as avi. and your finshed enjoy!

Forgotten something when you are in cs console write host_framerate 30 before type “endmovie”. Thx again.

when i start to look my recorded demo,it’s ok
but problem is,when i turn on my fraps,and hit the F9 button,then my fraps kick me out viewdemo,and then i see New Game,Find Servers,Options and Exit...
what i need to do?!

what you want to do is load the game you want to play and then open up console and type the following

Startmovie <NAME> AVI
SV_cheats 1
Host_framerate 30

Codec will come up you should pick divx because media player / flash wont like any of the others

Playdem <NAME>
After you finished what your playing as a demo or what you want to record type
stopmovie

there should appear a avi file in your game folder

You can’t convert .dem files because it’s not a video or audio file it bassicaly comes in game or something it;s digital elevation model

If you want to use demo files from cs to make a movie, well actually i think it’s impossible..cuase i’m using Fraps to record a video and the make a movie with Sony Vegas pro 8!
It’s really simple and i think it’s the best way to make a cs movie!
