convert 2 .dat file into one 700mb avi plzzz

i just got all the 5 parts of ROCKY SERIES IN .dat or VCD format..now i want to rip them into exact 700mb xvid/avi format...

gordian knot seems to be tooooo confusing..can you please take time and explain steps to convert 2 part .dat/.mpg file into one 700mb file..
only once please explain each and every step as i am new to ripping and all..the forum at doom9.org was of no help it started simple but left me confused...
