can i use my mp3 mp4 dv player with my pinhole camera

I have one of those pinhole cameras and i bought a mp3 mp4 dv player so i could monitor the video from the pinhole camera. Is this posible? The guy that sold it to me said it was but i cant get it to record or even view the video from the pinhole camera.
