Just spent last night figuring this DVD movie copying problem out. You just need your DVD copying software (Nero, Easy Media Studio, etc.) and the program ANYDVD which is available on www.click-now.net/downloads06.htm for a 21 day trial with option to buy full version for 40 or 50 bucks. You install ANYDVD, apply your preferred settings, then enable the program. It runs in your system tray. When you put a DVD in your drive, the program automatically makes the copy protects and any other protection features invisible to the copy software. It copies both to another DVD or to the hard disk(at least when using Easy Media Creator 7).

use dvdsanta, works great, no problems just click drag, it auto converts and burns, takes a while but its worth it, think of all the money we save!

I’ve been using DVD Shrink, Nero 6, and CSS Regionfree/AntDVD to break the copyrights and region codes and I have not had a prblem yet (even with the LOTR DVD’s). Search around in Nero, pull down menus, etc. and look for an option for converting AVI’s. There is also AVI converter software out there. Check Kazaa or Limewire. E-mail me if you have problems. I might be able to get it for you.

first off!! don’t use nero for anything but
burning your final DVD!!! nero does a crappy job
of converting avi to mpeg2, its not a conversion tool, its a burning tool with crappy conversion plugins!!
the easiest way I know of to convert avi files directly to burn ready VIDEO_TS folders is with canopus procoder 2. it will in fact accept pretty much ANY!!! video file and convert it to
IFO|BUP|VOB files in a video_ts folder for you.
in fact,, you can take several different types of video files and with the stitch feature, automatically join them into one output mpeg2 or video_ts file.
personally, I like CCE encoder(the best) and if the encoder you have will only output mpeg2 files then TMPGenc has a program called DVD author that will take your mpeg2 files and output them to BUP|IFO|VOB files in a video_ts folder for you and will also burn that file for you. this DVD burning tool included with DVD author is the one I use all the time, I find nero too finicky for my tastes.
So again!!! canopus procoder 2, and choose the VOB output option, and then?? burn it!!
let me know how you make out!!

How do I convert a video_TS file to a wma file

hi yall!!
first off!! Nero is good for burning CD\DVD’s!!
nothing else!! it is NOT!! good for converting video!! in fact,, I’ve had many mpeg2 dvd compliant files that I knew without a doubt WOULD!! play on a stand alone dvd player that nero would not burn to a dvd without insisting on re-encoding it first.
NOT A CHANCE!! nero does a ?hitty job of converting, for that matter, so does dvdshrink.
you want to convert your avi files to AUDIO\VIDEO_TS folders containing all the required ifo and vob files to burn directly to a dvd disc?? trust me!! save yourselfs a lot of hassle and do it this way!
you will need 2 programs,, thats it!!
Canopus procoder 2.0,,,and
TMP DVD author
canopus will accept practically any audio or video file so you won’t need to change anything to make it take your avi file. it will also take 4 or 5 different video formats and convert them all to one file with its “stitch” feature if you want!! anyways,, when choosing your output select the “vob” option and your final product will be the audio\video_ts folders ready to be burned directly to a DVD disc.
next!!
once you’ve encoded your video with canopus you can use dvd author to edit it should you want to or,, it comes with a built in burning tool(far better than nero for burning dvd’s) which you can use for burning your dvd. if ,, for whatever reason, you’ve encoded to a single large mpeg2 file, dvd author can change that to audio\video_ts folders containing all your ifo and vob files ready to be burned onto a dvd disc for you.
thats it!!
oh,,and one other important little thing :-)
I recall someone saying the encoded file was too big to fit on thier DVD disc.? no problem!!
file size is directly related to bitrate!!
the lower the bitrate the smaller the encoded file! sure, lower bitrate also results in reduced video quality but “svcd” format is done at around 2500 and the video quality is excellent so when your looking at lowering your bitrate from 6000 to 4000 it’s very unlikely you’ll be able to notice any reduction in video quality.
with CBR(constant bitrate) just lower the bitrate for size reduction.
with VBR(variable bitrate) it will be the average bitrate option that you would lower.
one other thing,, VBR results in more effecient compression and smaller file size with usually better and at the very least equal quality to CBR. I won’t explain why cause this post is a book already and you probably don’t need to know anyhow!! :-)
there you go!! feel free to e-mail me with any question, or comments(good or bad):-)
good luck!!
P.S. for ripping?? dvd decrypter, none better

the maker of tmpgenc also puts out another program called TMPgenc dvd author that will take your mpeg2(dvd) files and output them into a VIDEO_TS folder with all the bup\ifo\vob needed
for you. it also comes with a dvd burning tool to
burn those files onto a 4.7(or 9) dvd disc for you. this is the one I use exclusively for burning my dvd’s, I was also fed up with nero.
Nero has one set of parameters that they’ve decided will be “DVD compliant” and if your file
doesn’t fit into those, nero will attempt to convert it for you(wether you want to or not).
Bottom line?? I’ve altered gop structure, bitrate, frame size, you name it!! and for the most part? they WILL!! play in a lot of dvd players.
if you want to convert your avi\wma whatever to dvd and have them output directly to a VIDEO_TS folder ready to burn?? canopus procoder 2 will do that for you and the bonus is, canopus is one of the best software based encoders you can buy.
it’s not cheap but I’m sure some of you might have some donkey friend who might lend it to you?? nudge nudge wink wink!!
good luck!!

dvd decrypter is for ripping dvd’s off of the disc. what format is your file?? mpeg1? mpeg2?
avi? you would need to have it(convert) in mpeg2
for a dvd and there are several programs for burning dvd’s, the one I prefer I mentioned in my previous post. to convert?? I also mentioned a good program for that in my previous post.

Ikke said it in the second post
Go to http://www.sectie.be/ and download shrink 3.2
i use DVD Decryptor to rip from a full length dvd w/ copyright protections, then open the files using Shrink 3.2 and “Back them up” This compresses the dvd originaly 7.9gb to 4.7
this program is awfully proficient at this task
p.s.
this works on dvds that cannot be coppied using DVD X Copy

dvd shrink is great!!
for stripping extra’s and subtitles etc etc.
dvd shrink is not good !! for shrinking and reencoding video!! its very easy to use and WILL!! shrink your video for you so use it!!,, that is if your not concerned about quality!
a little harder to use but far far better quality
is DVD rebuilder. it uses CCE to encode your video(CinemaCraftEncoder is the best encoder period)so your finished product is as good as you can get.

I have done it! After 18months of havin a dvd burner i have burned films from my hard drive to dvd. Its a bit of a long process but it work. I use cucusoft avi to vcd dvd mpeg convertor pro to change from avi to mpeg then in the help file it gives you a link to cucusft to download their free convertor of mpeg to vob files which is called cucusoft mpeg to dvd author. The 1st part takes the longest then you have to convert to vob thats quite quick but at the end my nero 5.5 burns this to dvd which plays on my dvd player. Hope this helps someone else stuck in my position good luck burning.
