I am importing mp4 segment of a dvd,,,,and trying to edit a fade in and out in adobe elements. I seem to put the format to high definition, mp4 264 codec, 1280 by720 and firstly,,,the segment is 3 minutes and takes half hour to save. When it saves, it comes out with music way behind the picture. Whats going on?????

What’s the resolution of the source? Is it a standard definition DVD (720x480 or 720x576)?
If it’s re-encoding it in HD (1280x720) perhaps that’s what’s taking so much processing power (and time). And the extra processing power to replay/render it would explain the desynchronization in audio.
I don’t use adobe premiere, so I don’t know where all the settings are at. Are there output settings that can be customized? In particular the resolution. You could also use a less processor-intensive codec for your output (some flavor of MPEG-4 as opposed to H.264), though you might sacrifice a bit of compression for it.
