Windows Movie Maker problems... unable to save the compilation i've made to a movie!

I have a uncompleted movie in windows movie maker of 1.62 MB, i’m trying to save the file as .wma or .avi, or a similar alternative!

when attempting to do this, the uncompleted movie has decided not to play properly and freezes when i try playing it back! the timeline displayed above the screen is fine and changes according to how much it progresses along the timeline, but the screenshots freeze after the first clip.

Will i have to start it all again?its taken me a while to make! i have tried to reinstall the moviemaker and open it but the same problem occurs. Please help me!!

and ..... are there any alternative programs to windows movie maker that i can download and use??

I dont really have an answer for you, i wish i did. im having trouble with movie maker too. when i import a file, it imports it over 100%, and messes it all up. Im trying to find other alternatives to movie maker. There are others out there, but a price is required on most. Ill keep searchin the web for free donwloads, but untill then I guess were out of luck

In re: to the movie maker, I too am having problems only after almost through with all the transitions and effects...it freezes up the whole computer...have to alt delete....some of the time it will come back mostly recovered..but this last time, after working for 2 hours...I lost the whole slide show movie I had updated; however, still have the original one..but made lots of changes, now can’t remember what I did!
Is it just my computer (relatively new) or is there a glitch in the program?????

I’m having the same problem... it’s not your computer, it’s the Program. I spent hours finishing up an entire movie and just when I thought it was Safe to Play back..The program just went into that Freeze Mode that it does every time you try to make some Transition on the timeline. I lost half of what I had worked on for over 4 days. The anquish of getting Music, transitions and photos to all line up at the right moment...LOST.

fuck windows, fuck microsoft movie editing bullshit, they do it to scam people and fuck us over, it’s not a conspiracy.

i would like to add to that : FUCK FUCK and FUCK MOVIEMAKER. It is a bad piece of software, and someone tricked me into using it..now i have a nice movie, but unable to export due to 'some problem'.

Now i will have to recreate this movie in another program. Thanks again Bill for fucking me up !@!!

OMFG, this is really starting to drive me INSANE!!! movie maker hasnt been working on either of my computers! (not my hp desktop, and not my toshiba laptop) and i know for a fact that they used to work fine! my father said he asked his IT guy at work and he said it was something to do with incompatibilities between certain computers, internet expolorer 7 and movie maker. (however i do not understand why this would happen... that is what i was told)i really need to make a fucking movie, and i dont want to shell out hundreds to buy a GOOD program. any one got any ideas?!?!?!

Yeah Movie Maker sucks, If your having some problems try turning off some of the filters, SAVE OFTEN! If it crashes, it does make a backup copy once in a while, thank god for small wonders. If you have a HD camera or a camera with wide screen format don’t even think about using movie maker, it clearly can handle big file sizes it will only do what it does best, FUCK UP and CRASH!!

Windows movie maker fucking sucks, period. there are no positives, it justs sits there and fucking takes up memory

I can finally import the music to my movie maker but can not get the sound to work. What codec would I need or what adjustments do I need to make on my computer? Please help! I have an important project on the line here.

i HATE windows movie maker, ive made a vid and cant convert it or save it onto 'my computer' like it says on some thing that tells me how to fdo it, and i had th sme prob, whenever i watched my vid th music wud stil play bt th vid n everything else would freeze :[ fucking rip off i think, i made a fucking good video and was so fucking chuffed and now the cunting thing doesnt work, and for a 16 yr old boy its rather frustrating and makes you want to kick the shit out of your pooter!!!!

When I try to save the video, with enough space, it says that the file isn’t there and there’s not enough size!!!

I’ve wasted hours trying to make a simple movie with this craptacular program. They should shoot the guy that hired the guy who hired the guy that hired the guy that made this piece of crap!

Total crap. It will convert some videos, will not convert others. You get “cannot save — check output, input, your mother’s maiden name, God’s existence, etc." They’re all there. The program SUCKS!

I think our problem is the CoDecs. We need QuickTime (WHICH SUCKS MORE THAN LIFE) and DirectX (WHICH I CAN’T FIND)
And I have had the WORST day in my entire life... my best friend is no longer talking to me and all I want is to make a damned video.

Did I mention how much QuickTime fucking sucks?

ok, its works and all, but half way through my movie thing, it will stay on a picture for the rest of the time, and wont show other pics, and its starting to piss me off, oh and it only let s me watich it once, and if i watn to watch it again i have to close the program and re=open it! its messed up, and my friends works fine!! GRR
