Which software?

Hey

Im a totaly newbie to all of this and more than a bit clueless. Im looking for someone to recomend a good, easy to use software for converting downloaded Movies from avi to a DVD disk that will play in the dvd player. I have had a look myself and read many reviews but none of it really makes sense to me so was praying that someone could pointme in the right direction?
