Do you have anything on your PC that can play DVD’s?

Try downloading VLC player and then it may work if it’s not the Drive or disc.

Ive done it, I made a DVD with mp3 files on it and it plays on any CD player, DVD player, you name it it will play. When I first made it and I popped it in a CD player and it started playing, there was lightning and thunder, then all of a sudden I started having this urge to laugh like mwuahahahah!!! It’s ALIVE!!!!

ive got the same question as leeker. the dvd player in my car plays dvds, and mp3s. the mp3s play fine when recorded to cd, but when recorded to dvd, they do not play. i get the “unplayable disc” error. is this supposed to happen? i have tried using nero to burn audio dvd and data. any suggestions?

Your DVD player in your car plays MP3’s on CD’s and it dosnt play MP3’s on DVD’s, like you said.

most of them do it like that.

Could my search be over? Sounds like the DV-CP704 does just what I wanted - random playback of raw mp3’s from a DVD. Will it do random play from both one DVD or shuffle between all loaded DVD’s? Can the random mode be accessed without a video display? I’ve also heard some lower cost single disk players can do mp3-DVD playback in random or shuffle mode. Does anyone know of any other units that will do that? Thanks very much for any help! RichR rr@tampabay.rr.com

Hi Toney,

i understand your question perfectly. sorry to disappoint anyone here with the ego of the 'wannabe wiseguys' but to answering your curiousity. YES, IT IS possible to have A car audio player play a DVD with burn MP3s on it. I happen to own the latest KENWOOD Excelon KDC-X591 audio system. it plays my MP3 DVD beautifully. it has the ability to store the songs complete information if you wish. it just might be your car audio system. if you wish to achieve your goal, as some have stated here, you do need a system that supports DVD reading. the Kenwood system i mentioned will definitely achieve that for you! enjoy!

SmartReply, or anyone out there that might have the DV-CP704 - does it indeed play back mp3 files from DVD+R in random mode? (single disk at a time is OK with me). Can the random mode be easily accessed without having a video display? I was looking for a lower cost unit, as I will only be using it in a “music only room”, and won’t need all the cool video upconverting features...but for the money (and reputation of Onkyo), it seems that there isn’t a better option out there for what I need it to do. I just want to make sure I can access the random feature through the units own display, or at least by memorizing a few simple steps. Is this the case? Thanks again for any help and Happy Holidays to all! Rich R.

Why would a pc quit playing a dvd with mp3 songs on it and continue to play every other cd or dvd I put in there? The dvd I’m speaking of still plays in other pc’s - just quit playing on mine.....

If you place your mp3 files in a folder called AUDIO_TS on a DVD+R or DVD-R, then quite a lot of DVD players will play them OK. Certainly the Pioneer DV360 does, also the Pioneer DV2650.

Glad I read this forum before I bought a car stereo CD/DVD/Mp3 player . I wanted to buy a CD/DVD/MP3 player car stereo and play mp3’s off of DVD. It seems like the car stereo DVD players are incapable of this, thats too bad. I guess being able to put my entire music collection on about 10 DVD’s was too good to be true.
If someone has found a particular brand that can do the job I would love to know!!

Hey all the problem is in the software/firmware. Most DVD players even though they can read both DVD’s and MP3’s get will get confused if you insert a DVD burned as a data disc with MP3’s on it.

Most DVD players are set up so that when it detects a DVD it will look for the DVD movie format files on it and if its not there it will not play. So no luck with MP3.

There are only a few DVD players out there today that are smart enough to continue reading even though there is not DVD movie content on it. Not sure off the top of my head but you can look on www.videohelp.com I have seen them listed there before.

There is also software out there that make MP3s into dvd movie type files...I forget the name. I works, but the the way the song get laid out on the disc is pretty bad.

Hopefully in the future more players both home and car DVD players will support this soon. I would love to do this as well.
