You can’t play dvd’s in a Cd but you can play mp3’s on a dvd in a movie player. simply rename the mp3’s to mpg’s and they will play just find

Hey Dudes, Ive tried reading all these comments but it hasnt been able to resolve my query. Basically i have a incar dvd head unit, which plays mp3 dvds, apparently. I have used nero like 3/4 times to record a mp3 dvd , filling it to the max and i basically put each album in its own folder, so there is like 30 folders or so. When i try to play it the first say 10 or so folders work fine, but the rest of the folders show up, but when clicked on there are no tracks in them, checked the dvd in the computer and all the tracks are there! is it my dvd player? or is there a better way to record an mp3 dvd? any help much apprecieated

sounds like a problem with your dvd player, what model is it

if it were me, i would not use folders and throw all mp3’s together or arrange the albums so you only use 10 folders (maybe by artist or genre)

I have put Mp3s on a 4.7gb DVD+R using windows movie maker. It is the only way I have found, you still cannot play the cd in a cd player however.

Just open Windows movie maker, import all the songs you wish, and you can even make your own movie whilst your there also!

I have used Windows movie maker to make some unique music videos for my mp3 collection.

Good fun, highly recommended!

I have found several dvd players that will play mp3’s burned on dvd’s. However, for me it is not enough. These players do not have a 'shuffle' or random play function, and so they always play the songs in the same order. This is booooring.
The instructions state that to play songs in a different order, one must rename the songs before burning them to dvd, prefixing them with a number, so that the number controls the sequence in which the songs are played (eg 001Satisfaction, 002Help, 003Stairway to Heaven, etc.) . But then if one wishes to resequence the songs, one must rename them with different numbers and burn the songs again on the dvd. Not exactly high tech. So, the question is: Does anyone know of a dvd player that plays mp3’s on dvd, AND has a shuffle function to play songs in random order ????

I seem to recall seeing portable Audio DVD players once, (can’t remember where), which, as this implies, does not play video. I can’t remember much about these, except they seemed to be built into what was otherwise a standard boom box.

Needless to say, I have only ever seen those once. However, I think it would be nice if they built those with MP3-DVD compatibility.

Obviously we’re clear on the CD/DVD differences, but one problem I’ve noticed over the years is that some DVD players don’t read DVD-R and others don’t read DVD+R’s, its rare but I have seen it from time to time, try using the other format DVD. Hope this helps someone.

As my cd player is clearly incapable of playing a dvd loaded with mp3 files.

I thought i’d just ask if anyone knows if my cd player will play my old collection of 45’s or my audio casette tapes!!!

LMFAO grin

Panasonic dvd recorder. The specs say it can play mp3s. If you copy mp3s onto a DVD RAM disc, the machine refuses to recognise them. I assume (although I havn’t tried this) that if you copy mp3s onto a CD, the machine will happily play them. Has anyone had any luck with mp3s on a DVD RAM disc?

if the machine says that it can play MP3’s it usually means that the mp3 has to be on a CDR, it has to specifically say that it will play a DVD-MP3.

Actually, I was looking for a dvd player that could play random mp3’s on dvd, preferably a changer that could hold multiple discs. After a lengthy search, I found the Onkyo DV-CP704 could do just what I wanted, I got it and it works great, randomness abounds. That previous poster is still a fruit.

I’m afraid you guys are ALL missing the point. Just because a DVD player can play DVDs and can also play CDs with MP3 files on them DOES NOT mean it can play a DVD with MP3s on it. Read the description of the DVD player and it will show what disc formats it supports. I reasearched this because I assumed it would, and it doesn’t. The only MP3 playback available on my DVD player is off of CDs. Newer models may have more capabilities. Sure would be nice to have 4+gb of mp3s on a disc!

Such name calling from people who don’t know the whole story!
