How to copy from a dvd onto my pc?

Hi. I am wanting to copy sum video footage from a dvd onto my pc? Just wondering how i go about that?

The dvd has sum home footage i took, and i want to get it on my pc so then i can edit it a bit, then upload it to the net.

Your help would be MUCH appreciated.
